{"id":2308,"date":"2016-04-16T21:27:37","date_gmt":"2016-04-16T21:27:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cookhappylivehealthy.org\/blog\/?p=2308"},"modified":"2016-04-16T21:27:37","modified_gmt":"2016-04-16T21:27:37","slug":"spark-a-transformation-in-your-food-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cookhappylivehealthy.org\/blog\/spark-a-transformation-in-your-food-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Spark a Transformation in Your Food Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i722.photobucket.com\/albums\/ww230\/mcolletterogers\/Inspiration--MealPlanning-Sparkler.jpg\" width=\"444\" height=\"296\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Not surprisingly, it happened again.\u00a0 The only surprising thing is that it happened in my Pilates class of all places.\u00a0 But the &#8220;it&#8221; was the same:\u00a0 another unfortunate mealtime lament.<\/p>\n<p>It started when someone in class mentioned <a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/prairie-mountain-media\/docs\/boulderdailycamera_20160228_taginga\/10?e=23518770\/33903822\">the nice article<\/a> we got in the Daily Camera (p. 11), which got everyone talking about healthy eating.\u00a0 One class member, we&#8217;ll call her Nona, chimed in with how dismal she felt around mealtimes.\u00a0 Although very active and physically fit, she admitted that meal times were disastrous, nutritionally and otherwise:\u00a0 &#8220;Never know what to make . . .\u00a0 it&#8217;s such a chore . . . we end up just picking at things, grabbing whatever we can . . . I just dread it . . . I&#8217;m not that good in the kitchen and I feel really incompetent. . . I know we&#8217;re not eating well but I don&#8217;t know what to do about it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You&#8217;re hardly alone!&#8221; was my response.\u00a0 I have heard versions of Nona&#8217;s laments time and time again over my 25 years in the healthy meal making area.\u00a0 And each time I hear a person getting sucked into that well of hopelessness, dismay, frustration, anger, sadness and overwhelm around mealtimes, my heart goes out to her.\u00a0 Because I remember being in the same spot when I first began.<\/p>\n<p>Yet here&#8217;s good news I didn&#8217;t know then&#8212;but do now:\u00a0 Transformation is possible!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Transformation is big now<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Your inbox is likely housing at least half a dozen self-help offerings right now.\u00a0 For everything from reviving your marriage to supercharging your career and from finding a soul mate to achieving enlightenment, there are hundreds of programs to help us become better in some way.<\/p>\n<p>But did you ever consider your food life to be a candidate for personal transformation?<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s not just a rhetorical question.\u00a0 I&#8217;m really interested in your answers because I&#8217;ve always thought of our classes as personal transformation programs more than how-to-cook classes.\u00a0 And just this week, I myself began a self-help program on marketing and the first topic was&#8211;you guessed it&#8211;transformation!\u00a0 The instructor asked us to identify the core transformation our participants are seeking.\u00a0 I figured there&#8217;s no better way to find out than by asking.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Can you help me?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I would love to hear your thoughts on transformation around meal times.\u00a0 Our mission lies in helping busy people make a lifestyle of healthy meal making and eating.\u00a0 Over the years, I have listened and listened to the barriers you face on the road to that kind of lifestyle.\u00a0 And I&#8217;ve designed our new <a href=\"http:\/\/cookhappylivehealthy.org\/CookHappyLiveHealthyAbout.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Cook Happy<\/span><span style=\"color: #008000;\"> | Live Healthy<\/span><\/a> program in response to the needs, frustrations and dreams you&#8217;ve shared.<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;ve never asked about this idea of transformation.\u00a0 So can you help me by sharing your thoughts?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Take our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/FLSYJZN\" target=\"_blank\">5-Minute Mealtime Transformation Survey<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8211;or&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Just <a href=\"mailto:mcr@CookHappyLiveHealthy.org\" target=\"_blank\">email me<\/a> answers to any or all the questions at the end of this post + any other comments you may have.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Now, A Little More About Transformation<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At its core, it&#8217;s just about living consciously.\u00a0 Instead of life happening to us, we&#8217;re in cahoots with it.\u00a0 We take time to consider what we&#8217;d like our lives to look like, then start making conscious choices taking us in that direction rather than in haphazard and unpredictable directions.\u00a0 This kind of thinking is popular\u00a0 in the spiritual realm and the career realm and the emotional realm.\u00a0 Did you ever think it could work in the practical realm of how we make our daily meals?<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t worry if this is a foreign idea to you.\u00a0 I doubt there are many programs like ours that are focused on meal making transformation.
