Here&#8217;s a simple way to save both dollars and your health: Steer clear of the snack aisles.<\/p>\n<p>In almost all cases, snack foods are highly processed (i.e., ultra-processed) and provide little in the way of nutrition or, more commonly, are health-damaging. (See &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/cookhappylivehealthy.org\/blog\/what-a-coincidence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What a Coincidence!<\/a>&#8220;)<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, snack foods are one of the most profitable food categories, a sure sign we&#8217;re being charged a lot for a little.<\/p>\n<p>And because they are so profitable, snacks are also one of the most heavily marketed food categories. No surprise, then, that 76% of shoppers include snack foods in their grocery baskets,* throwing away a lot of money on &#8220;foods&#8221; that don&#8217;t do what foods should do, i.e., nourish us!<\/p>\n<p>Imagine not getting lured into the snack food money trap. How much money might that save?
