Roasted winter pears are a great guilt-free treat that can satisfy the “free” crowd (i.e., GF, DF and sugar free folks–like me!) But top with a splash of cream, whipped cream or even ice cream and it will please the regular dessert crowd, too.
Roasted pears can also be used to top other foods. I used them on buckwheat pancakes and hearty whole grain toast.
Best of all, roasted pears are super easy: Core, slice, toss with butter and a sprinkle of nutmeg then bake! But you’ll find some helpful details and notes in the recipe. Find it here. Here are a couple pics to help.

Core the pears before slicing. Pictured are my two favorites: D’anjou (green) and Bosc (brownish)

Toss sliced pears with melted butter and a little nutmeg. Don’t worry if it hardens a bit when combined with the cool pears.

Bake until pears brown nicely, begin to “melt” and almost fall apart when stirred with a spoon.
Enjoy!
