Today’s trio of articles on Alzheimer’s was sparked by Barbra Cohn, author of Calmer Waters: The Caregiver’s Journey Through Alzheimer’s & Dementia. For ten years, Barbra cared for her husband as he suffered through and eventually died from early onset Alzheimer’s. Her book is a tribute to that time, the challenges of caregiving and the importance of good nutrition for the health of both caregiver and care partner.
Barbra suggested a joint podcast on how better eating can protect us from chronic disease–or help us as we’re caring for someone with a chronic disease. I quickly took Barbra up on her offer, knowing the increasing prevalence of Alzheimer’s, and that the topic could be relevant for practically any of today’s many chronic diseases.
