[VIDEOS] Hate Chopping Onions?

A key part of Meal Making Transformation lies in making healthy everyday cooking a daily activity that can be accomplished naturally and easefully, without a lot of fuss and stress. And a key part of achieving that goal lies in learning the few basic techniques used again and again for simple but tasty meals. Probably the most important of these is chopping an onion.

An Onion in Almost Every Dish!

Ever notice how almost every recipe starts by sautéing a chopped onion? That’s because onions create an amazing flavor foundation for almost any dish.

But what if you experience an “inner groan” whenever the first ingredient in a dish is “1 onion, chopped?”

I recently had a shoulder replacement which made onion chopping not just annoying, but virtually impossible. So I began casting about for ways to still get the flavor and health benefits of onions, but without the heavy chopping. So if you “groan” when a recipe calls for a chopped onion, take a look at the following video that shares 4 Easy Options.

4 Easy Chopped Onion Alternatives

An Easy Onion Chopping Technique

While the previous video’s options are indeed helpful, there are times when you still want or need a regular chopped onion.

For many years, I prepped an onion by chopping this way and that until I had a mish mash of misshapen onion pieces–and tears welling in my eyes. Eventually it dawned on me that I needed a systematic, efficient chopping process instead of a random slapdash approach. After just a couple weeks of experimentation I developed an organized method that has only gotten faster and easier with time. In fact, the last time I checked, it took just 42 seconds!

Take a look as I walk you through my process, step by step. Promise me that you won’t get discouraged if it seems like a lot at first. After practicing just a few times, you’ll be zipping through onions in a minute or two, which is really not so very much time–especially for great flavor and better health.

P.S. Of course if you come up with a better process–feel free to use it!
